it's day 3 now and it just feels weird. watching roland garros without henin. it would be like matching epl without the champion. or your beloved top 4 teams. or like watching a different manager taking over from ferguson. you wouldn't know who would be the next queen who will dominate the female scene. to say that it was a shock would be an understatement, but once reality sets in, when you start looking at her decision, you start to understand why. ferguson took 9 years to rebuild a team that won european glory. and it wasn't convincing even when it was won because luck did played a big role in that win in moscow. when you're at the top, you can only fend off your opponents, because there's no one for you to chase anymore. it is always easy to chase than to be chased. so when first signs of crack starts appearing, you start wondering if it's a slip up or is it more than that. will there ever be a second coming. when you do realise that you're old. when you've been through a divorce. when the pressure is so much more to bear with now. walking away is just the right thing to do. from the time you caught my eyes when you first won the french title, till the day i read on the net that you were retiring. your single backhand is still an inspiration to watch.
well, only consolation would be that alize cornet reached the finals in Rome. but she should learn from henin. she should wear a cap, she would look better with it.
and it seems that tsonga is dead. pretty much a one time wonder it seems.
sometimes i wonder, when you retire, do you go conduct clinics, help the next generation? do what you have always wanted to do, pick up sth you once didn't had a chance to? look after your child, spend more time with family? promote events for charity, help the needy? sit down read a book, enjoy the scenery? chat up you old friends, catch up on old times? seek out an old flame, let the sparks fly once again? after all, she's only 26.
