Man Utd, Pool

On the match between Man Utd and L'pool.

1. If you're going into a tackle and you are going to pull away from it, you are going to get injured. Berbatov did it. And he became useless for the rest of the game. Carrick did it, and he never put in a second tackle. After which the whole midfield belong to Gerrard and co.

2. I don't exactly fancy signing big names especially midway through the season because it makes the team unbalance. Current players become unhappy. Someone somehow will be affected. He may bring a new dimension to the team. But it definitely won't be the first game he play for. Unless of course he has already been training with the team for quite some time.

3. When you play with 3 forwards, it becomes crowded. When you play 2 forward and drop one to the wing, you do your opposition a favour. You remove that threat of the 3rd attacker, for he can only cut in, or send crosses in which isn't exactly his forte. And if he's attacking, he's going to leave a gap that is going to be exposed. IF you play a system with a overlapping wing back, then well done because that whole flank is going to be free when your opponents launch a counter attack. Thank god Liverpool didn't do that, because they camped in our half and all Rooney could do was to defend. Playing a forward as a defender. Splendid.

4. Have you wonder why big names that came to Man Utd are most of the time injured? They came with such expectations, so much hype, if i'm the opposition I will definietly want to improve that threat. Saha is fast, you remove his speed. Berbatov is strong holding ball so you deny him the ball. When you can't do that you got to take him out. So much attention was on Berbatov, surely you didn't expect Carragher to let him waltz past him? The whole backline must have watched replays of Berbatov in his days in Spurs. Every article before the game was about the attack, the defence became complacent and look what the reliant Van Der Saar did? I'm a little disappointed on the way Fergie handled the Berbatov saga, prematch, and the tactics in the game. It was a gamble and you could tell he's impatient. He's missing CR7. Look what he said during the mid week Champs league game.
