The last sleep.

When will a person know that death is calling upon him?

Seconds after a bullet ripped through his body?
Minutes after registering that the glittery sliver casting your reflection is a sharp blade?
Hours threading water in the open ocean not knowing where you are?
Days waiting in the wilderness waiting for help to come by as you lay looking at the sky, pinned by a fallen tree?
Weeks passing by as the patient gets wheeled towards his chemotherapy session?

Perhaps the most common reaction is to resist it initially, but ultimately, over time, acceptance sets in,and he will come to terms with his fate.
I wonder.. What would he do then?

Look at the milestones he has achieved and give himself a pat on the back?
Relive the happy memories in his head and be glad for them?
Forgive past grudes and seek forgivness, wondering what was the cause?
Look at his regrets and realize how it doesn't matter at all?
Do what he could for the people around him and not asking for anything in return?
Spend time with his loved ones, soaking in the warmth?

What if, it catches you off guard and you don't even have a chance to do any of the above?
I think i'm runnning out of time.
