in an hour's time..

in an hour's time.
the father will rise to go to work.
the mother will wake to wash the laundry.
the daughter will greet the morning sun on the way to school.
and the son will pen his final thoughts.
as he prepares to go to bed.
on this early Saturday morning.

in an hour's time.
he will go about collecting the bouquet of flowers that had been preordered.
checking everything on the list fervently making sure nothing is left out.
nothing must go wrong today.
she will check that the cookies are looking good; smelling nice; and sweet enough.
just like the rest of the day, perfect and filled with love. where a surprise awaits her.
nothing could seem more right than before.
on this very Valentine's day.

in an hour's time.
she would finally be able to type the final paragraph of the 2500 word essay.
he would finally be able to complete tutorials assigned since the opening week of school.
looking back on what they had accomplished the whole night,
there would be mutual graditude; and relief would sweep past them.
but the ring of an incoming message, and the broadcast of a love duet,
wiped the smiles and grin off their faces.
disappointment creeps up, masking the joy they had the past few hours.
as their thoughts wandered back to those unhappy thoughts and emptiness.
on this taxing day where deadline meets test.

in an hour's time.
the birds will go about looking for their daily meal.
the bees will buzz around searching for flowers.
they, know that seperation is impending,
and they would have to return to their respective partners before daybreak.
if only they had not been so impulsive,
they, would not be imprisoned by their rings.
now empty, hollow, circular and meaningless.
on his and her, 28th and 25th anniversary respectively.

in an hour's time
he will cut his birthday cake.
she will have the metal blade slicing through her.
he will be able to double his age.
she will be left with half an organ.
and they both wouldn't know each other's existence.
if not for the accident that they had one week ago.
on the day the red damaged car will be scraped.

in an hour's time.
the kitten will find a new home.
the dog will be put to sleep.
the troubled kitten will finally be able to have a new surrounding.
no more abuse. no more hungry nights.
the aging dog will finally be able to find peace.
no more illness. no more insomniac nights.
on the gloomy day where the old is forgotten, and the new is welcomed.
