today somebody told me he went to remove his moles on his face.
and listed reasons for doing so.
his sister thinks it's ugly. he thinks it's ugly. as a result, he's ugly.
he claims that appearance is going to follow you for the rest of your life; and if that bit of money can improve his appearance, why not? it's not like he went to steal and rob to get money to improve his looks, and being less ugly gives him confidence, at the same time improving what's in him, and making him more confident.
all this time, i thought he was fine. after all i've known him since thirteen and seeing him without mole(s) would perhaps be, more weird.
well appearance does make an impact. after all we've known about first impression, the wonders and the damages it can bring about. yet there's also this phrase about the book and its cover. i just can't seem to find the relevance between getting a scholarship, or landing a job and the number of moles on your face. if it's a confidence issue, i don't think the problem will be solved just by getting rid of some black spots. confidence comes from within, and the insecurity that you had when you had moles will just find it's way into your head and transform the original fear into another.
of course, if it's affecting your daily routine, by all means, do it. i can understand how a salesperson would want to cut off his sweat glands to his palms. or a model removing a tatoo, but how would moles affect you, your life, or as a person? you have a girlfriend, your family wouldn't desert you, your friends wouldn't poke fun of you. would it affect your promotion? no i don't see how your daily performance would be affected by moles. the only reason, maybe it's irritating to be talking to people with them counting your moles. but you've already ruled out sales so what's there to worry about? phua chu kang is doing great! rosie, big house, earning good money, and a mole. okay sorry i digress.
confidence is about being happy with who you are. hopefully you would be a happier person, and you would get that confidence that you want.
to me, it's simple. to my friends my appearance wouldn't matter. to strangers, i'm just another face on the streets, easily forgotten once their eyes look at the next object. and to those in between, once the transaction is done, they will forget my name, why bother with the looks.
honestly it's better to spend more time in the personality department, it has a longer impression.
everybody wants to be hot like megan fox, but let's face it. even if you're hot like her, but a little less secured, the talk about your sexual origin is going to crush you and you would never be in the showbiz. confidence, doesn't necessary come with looks, no?
that is a reason why i still hadn't spend money getting braces. having a good set of pearly whites, everybody would want that, but unfortunately, not everyone will be blessed with that fortune. if it's not interfering with my speech, or giving me problems breaking my food down, honestly, i would rather take the money and spend it elsewhere. like traveling.
everyone has different priorities about their appearance, but i hope you would be happy with single eyelids, small boobs, big thighs, and maybe flabby arms. wait. i don't mean one person with all those that i just said, that would be sad (opps :P) but should you have any of that, be happy. god's fair. and remember? nobody is perfect in this world. (and i'm nobody, and so i am perfect C: )
