pre '65. pre ww2.

growing old is a scary thing.
and i don't mean aging.
the thought of your children leading their own lives.
your life partner unable to be with you, either moving on or caught up in work.
and everything is a routine.

surprises come once in a while.
they probably don't say it.
amidst their poor hearing, and expressing with a mixture of languages and hand signals, you know they feel blessed and happy deep down.
sometimes. you can feel their loneliness as you bade them good bye.
as the surprise fades away and things go back to a mundane routine.
