the 3 stages.

i mentioned schumann's theory of acculturation because in a way, i think at every stage at some point in time of you life. the 3 stages will definitely set in. be in when you're within a phase or going through a transition.

1st stage, euphoria/ 'honeymoon' period. roughly 3-6 months. there is a high energy level where by individuals/groups will be very interested in the new environment/changes, they will attend whatever events that come by excitedly. comparisons will be drawn between the new and the old, similarities will be met with conviction from themselves that nothing has changed. and differences will be celebrated wildly to show how life is now better; interesting. there is usually great progess for everything is picked up quickly. in short. if there's good from the new, it's a good change. if it's bad from the new, the pros will have greater emphasis and the cons overlooked. everything is fun fun fun.

2nd stage, hostility. individuals began to feel critical and negative. homesickness sets in and they will try to attempt to reconnect with the past, be it in the form of meals, daily practices etc. the transition often come about with little warning and sometimes can be triggered off by a seemingly trivial incident or no cause at all. the cons began to surface and the differences are no longer celebrated but frown upon. in short. nostalgia creeps in and you can't wait to go back to the past. emo emo emo.

3rd stage, acceptance. a balance is reached, whereby some practices from the past is kept, and the new is adopted.

one thing to note though is that these stages need not be in sequence.
so don't worry, do not fret.
always look on the bright side.
do you feel lighter and smarter?
